Nokia’s camera expert Juha Alakarhu joins Axon

One of the members of the team inside Nokia that created the iconic PureView technology, first announced on Nokia 808 in 2012, Juha Alakarhu, left Nokia and will be joining Axon. Axon is the global leader in connected law enforcement technologies, and is creating a new imaging team based in Finland.

Juha will lead the imaging team that will focus on creating wearable, in-car cameras, as well as platforms for VR (virtual reality) and AR (artificial reality), coupled with AI (artificial intelligence).

Juha joined Nokia in 2004, and held the position of “Head of imaging technologies” at the time of Microsoft’s Devices and Services acquisition. In August 2016, he rejoined Nokia as Head of imaging for the OZO team. Late last year, Nokia Technologies announced that it is cutting back on VR hardware, stopping the development of OZO VR camera, and instead focusing on software.

We wish Juha the best of luck and we are eagerly waiting for the great solution he and his team will do with Axon.

Good luck Juha, from the NokiaMob team. 🙂
