A Nokia 3310 Lookalike Emerges with LTE
|It’s amusing to see copies of iconic phones still appearing in the market, and one of the most replicated designs is the 2017 Nokia 3310 by HMD. The latest addition is a device named Newman NM20250108, spotted in Chinese certification databases that blatantly mimics the 3310’s design while adding LTE connectivity and a few modern features.
From its rounded body and signature button layout to the navigation key placement, the phone’s design is unmistakably “inspired” by the Nokia 3310 (2017). However, rather than being a quality homage, it seems more like a budget attempt to capitalize on the nostalgia factor.
Specifications:
- Network Support: GSM, LTE Band 3, TD-LTE Band 41 (2555–2655 MHz), VoLTE
- Dimensions: 129.8 × 56.7 × 16.5 mm
- Weight: 121 g
- Keyboard: T9 QWERTY
- Display: 2.4-inch TFT, 240 × 320 pixels, 256 colors
- CPU: Single core, 0.5 GHz
- Memory: 16 MB RAM, 16 MB ROM (expandable to 32 GB via TFlash card)
- Battery: 2500 mAh
While the design might appeal to fans of Nokia’s legacy, it’s clearly a low-cost copy. Its VoLTE support and robust 2500 mAh battery make it functional, but the overall quality remains questionable. It’s surprising such an obvious copy could be registered—one wonders if HMD is taking any legal action against these companies, or profiting from them by lending them the design for a fee.
Here are some of the knockoffs I picked up over the years. Do you remember this one, InFocus, which appeared immediately after the Nokia 3310 🙂 That one was a much better copy, and HMD probably reacted on that one since I couldn’t find it later on the market.
Then there was the one that even came with a working Sailfish OS 3 for feature phones :). That would be interesting to have today.
And finally, we should not forget the indigestible one :). Check that post here.
