Nokia G22 pops up on Geekbench
|Last year, on Valentine’s Day, Nokia Mobile announced the Nokia G21, an affordable G-series phone that didn’t bring me joy. The phone is still sluggish at doing everyday tasks with its UNISOC T606, a 50 MP camera that takes OK daylight shots, and the hello moto design is also a fist punch in the face of a longtime Nokia fan. Still, I like the overall build quality, the 90 Hz refresh rate display, and the particularly good battery life.
Now Nokia Mobile seems to be willing to introduce an improved version of the G21, as MySmartPrice’s latest find on Geekbench. Apparently, the Nokia G22 is about to launch and this phone will again come with an octa-core 1.8GHz Unisoc T606 processor paired with Mali-G57 GPU. I don’t know if this is a joke or not since the G22 seems to have the same Geekbench score as G21. I was expecting it to be upgraded, at least with Android 13 out of the box, which doesn’t seem to be the case.
However, Geekbench scores can be faked, so until the phone sees the light of day, I hope this phone is indeed the G21 Plus with an upgraded camera or a better screen :).
Nokia Mobile is preparing to release many new phones though, according to the EUIPO, where 12 more slots have been reserved for newly protected Nokia phone designs. Most of these phones could be announced at MWC2023, and one of them could be the G22, although I strongly advise against updating the lower G series with the same old hardware.
Let us assume that the G22 is actually coming and the Geekbench result is fake. Which feature or specification of the G21 would you like to see improved?
Check out Abdulla’s review of G21 until G22 arrives.
Cheers Mysmartprice for the tip 😉
