#Nokia 2 (TA-1029) passes #FCC certification

As we are getting closer to IFA2017 and Nokia’s 16th August event, more and more information about an alleged Nokia 2 appear online. Last month, among some speculative drawings published by Nokibar, we saw an “Unknown Heart” Geekbench entry of a device featuring Snapdragon 212 and 1GB RAM.

Nokia 2 FCC antenna position

“Unknown Heart” is the codename of Nokia (HMD Global) device on Geekbench, so it would be an educated guess to say that the upcoming Nokia 2 will use the spotted Snapdragon 212 and 1GB RAM. Today, a device under the model number TA-1029 was certified by the FCC. TA-1029 was certified in Russia back in May, together with TA-1007 and others.

Fan-made renders

The device’s dimensions appear to be smaller than on Nokia 3, suggesting a possible 4.5-inch display. Globemobiles.com dig up a fan made render of the Nokia 2, that should look a lot like the real device, and with the render came the following specifications:

  • 4.5-inch 720p display
  • Android 7.1.1
  • 8MP back + 5MP front camera
  • 8GB storage
  • Snapdragon 212 + 1GB RAM

The precise announcement date is unknown, but as said above, we can speculate that it could appear on the upcoming August 16th event organized by HMD in London or at IFA2017 in Berlin next month.

I still doubt how good the device will perform considering the low-end SoC and 1GB RAM, but nevertheless, it will be interesting to see a new Nokia-branded device.
