Drake Drops Nokia Into the Music World

It seems that HMD isn’t the only one fishing for attention using the once-glorious Nokia brand. Now that HMD is rather shy about bringing new Nokia products, Drake is stepping up with his latest single, Nokia.

I am not a fan of Drake’s musical expression nor the complexity of his lyrics, but I had to listen to the song and check the lyrics to see the connection with the Nokia brand. The only connection with Nokia is the Nokia Tune being used as a sample in the background.

Well, it’s OK for Drake to name his song Nokia, since HMD named the Nokia C100 (TA-1520) ‘DrakeLite’ during preproduction. While it’s nice to see Nokia still being synonymous with phone calls in today’s music (well, Drake is no spring chicken), I prefer Francisco Tárrega’s Nokia Tune, or rather, the Gran Vals.

Thanks to KaiserAllen for the tip! 😉
