Nokia 9210 Communicator Used a Fluorescent Tube for Display Backlight

Janus Cycle has published another fantastic video of an old Nokia device being restored. This time, he showcases the unique Nokia 9210 Communicator, which wasn’t functioning correctly. Naturally, Janus disassembled the device, revealing Nokia’s use of a fluorescent tube to illuminate the super-sharp screen.

While this wasn’t the most power-efficient choice, it was the best option available before LED technology became common. If you remember, this phone was announced back in 2001, and it was a marvel of mobile technology.

Enjoy Janus’s calming approach to exploring vintage tech in this video, and don’t forget to subscribe to support his work! Let us help him cross that 100K of subscribers line.

Now I am waiting for the continuation of the 9210 project.
