HMD working on Nokia X30 successor

HMD is gradually phasing out its Nokia portfolio. The HND Pulse has replaced the C series, and the Skyline model has taken over from the Nokia 8.3 5G in the upper mid-range segment. Now, it’s time to replace their entry-level mid-range model, the Nokia X30.

According to leaks from Smashx_60, the new entry-level mid-ranger will adopt the Skyline’s body design. I did expect the full polycarbonate body, but this looks good too. However, while the colour options may be more diverse, the hardware won’t see similar upgrades.

The more affordable Skyline model will come with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, which was introduced back in 2022. While the processor is likely still capable, Qualcomm has recently announced a refreshed Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, offering about 10% better performance in daily tasks.

The camera setup will be similar to that of the X30, but HMD has managed to fit a smaller 8 MP ultra-wide (UW) camera into the design. Personally, I would prefer a better telephoto camera over the UW option.

Here are the leaked specs, which seem quite decent:

– 6.55″ FHD+ OLED, 120Hz
– Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC (4nm) | Adreno 710
– 50MP OIS + 13MP Telephoto + 8MP UW | 4K
– 50MP, AF | FHD
– 8/256GB + MicroSD | 4,700mAh + 33W charging
– IP54, Bluetooth 5.2, Dual speakers, WiFi 5, NFC, etc.

I’m not sure when this device will be released, but it might debut at IFA, which starts this Thursday.
