Cheaper Skyline, HMD Hyper, is coming
|If the HMD Skyline was the Nokia device we’ve been waiting for the company to announce, then the HMD Hyper is the one I’m even more excited to see.
The reliable Smashx_60 has revealed a render and specs for the HMD Hyper, an affordable device featuring the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor that HMD is planning to announce soon. The render first popped up at the beginning of July, but hardware specs are now crystallized. Also, back then we thought this was Skyline because of that yellow render released for the device..
This device is a more budget-friendly version of the Skyline, and judging by the render, it looks even closer to the Lumia design than its more powerful sibling, the Skyline.
I can’t tell whether the body is made of polycarbonate or aluminium, but the yellow colour in the render is the most welcoming feature.
Here are the specs:
– OLED FHD+, 120Hz
– Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC
– 50MP OIS + 13MP + 8MP / 50MP cameras
– 4K 30fps / FHD 60fps, 30fps video recording
– 8GB RAM / 256GB storage + MicroSD support
– 4,700mAh battery + 33W fast charging
Based on the specs, HMD might use the same aluminium frame to reduce manufacturing and assembly costs, and the lower specs like the 50 MP camera and cheaper processor will help achieve this. The colours might also differ, which I fully support. Overall, it looks good, and it would look even better with the Nokia logo—but hey, that ship has already sailed.
