HMD Skyline Quietly Launched in the Philippines at a Compelling Price

In a strategic move, HMD Global has quietly launched the Skyline in the Philippine market. The device has been made available for pre-order on all major e-commerce platforms, including Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop, at a discounted price of only ₱22,990 (approximately €366 or $400).
Realme’s upcoming 13 Pro Series, which are already expected to have a potential price increase, as well as the existing 12 Pro Series and Honor’s triple-digit lineup, are the target competitors for the limited initial pricing. The device already has an advantage in terms of its price, with Realme opting for a more conservative approach by using the same Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset on their upcoming products, while Honor is hiking the prices of their triple-digit lineup to the budget flagship territory.
The HMD Skyline features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The Skyline marks the return of the Fabula Design, which was popularized by the Nokia Lumia series. On the front, the Skyline uses a 6.55-inch Full HD+ OLED display with support for up to 144Hz of refresh rate. HMD is positioning the phone as easily repairable, partnering with iFixit to provide easy access to original replacement parts.
The camera setup is also quite impressive, with a 108MP main camera with OIS, a 13MP ultrawide, a 50MP telephoto, and a 50MP front-facing camera with autofocus and eye-tracking. HMD has carried over their camera algorithms from the Android Nokia devices and added Nokia’s OZO Audio Capture with wind-noise cancellation. Additionally, the phone features a customizable button, a feature that was once unique to the Nokia Lumia lineup and has since been adopted by other Android and iOS devices.
On the software side, the device will be part of Google’s Android Enterprise Recommended program, thanks to its near-Pixel-like Android interface. There will also be support for eSIM which is unique at this price range.
