Eton College to Replace Smartphones with Nokias
Here is a strange post, or to be more frank, an unexpected one. Eton College, the renowned British boarding school, is implementing a significant change for its first-year students by replacing their smartphones with, drum rolls, old-school Nokia phones.
This move, starting in the upcoming academic year, is intended to help students focus more on their studies and improve their social interactions by reducing the distractions caused by modern smartphones. The basic Nokia phones will enable calls and texts but will not have internet access, social media, or other apps that contribute to screen addiction.
The decision stems from concerns about the negative impact of smartphones on students’ attention spans, sleep patterns, and overall well-being. Well, I must say I welcome the move Eton is making. However, I’m not sure which phone they will use—Nokia 105, HMD 105, or perhaps another model. The Nokia 3210 might be a nice phone for Eton students.
