Jolla announced a community phone, but…
|Jolla held a Jolla Day event today, where the Finnish company revealed several new products to the world. They announced the future of Sailfish, which will soon be upgraded to version 5.0. They also announced something we have been waiting for a new Jolla Community Phone.
After watching the phone announcement, for a brief moment, I thought Jolla had partnered with HMD since their device looks a lot like the phones HMD manufactures. However, Jolla chose another European manufacturer, Reeder from Turkey.
Their new phone is Reeder’s S19 MAX PRO S, a T606-powered device with a 64MP camera, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 6.7-inch HD+ display, and a 4000mAh battery. The Jolla Community Phone will be powered by Sailfish 5.0 and will sell for €299. In Turkey, this phone actually sells for even more.
A limited batch of 1,000 units will be delivered in August, but you can pre-order the phone now and reserve a Jolla Community Phone with a €50 voucher. By doing so, you’ll get a 12-month Sailfish OS full license subscription valued at €59.88 (€4.99/month).
The best thing about the phone is Sailfish OS. They might have chosen HMD’s Pulse Pro and had a lower price tag.

Reeder is also the manufacturer of the Jolla Mind 2, a privacy-first AI computer that connects with your phone or other devices and serves as your personal assistant, private server, and communication hub. It acts as a barrier between you and an AI-governed world. It is powered by Venho.A, a platform with a variety of pre-loaded AI agents, each designed to excel at specific tasks.
This AI secretary surely costs less than a real secretary, with a price tag of €489. For the first limited batch of 500 devices, you get 30% off the €699 consumer price.
However, I’m not so sure about this product. The world is currently in the early stages of these AI-powered devices, and without testing it, I can’t say much (or comprehend what the device is for).
