Meet the all but a Boring phone
|HMD has announced a new partner and a new phone created out of that partnership. Actually, Heineken partnered with Bodega to introduce ‘The Boring Phone’ made by HMD, promoting real-life connections by disconnecting from smartphones.
Inspired by Gen Z’s Newtro fashion, this device offers basic calling and texting features, devoid of social media or distracting apps. Transparent casing and holographic stickers add a unique touch to this partnership.
This initiative addresses the pervasive issue of excessive smartphone use, as revealed by research indicating that 90% of people habitually scroll on nights out. Heineken® responds to this trend by offering a device that prioritizes genuine social interactions over digital distractions.
Based on the Nokia 2660 Flip phone, it boasts a clear shell, a nostalgic throwback to the transparent tech of the late 80s and early 90s, popularized by Zack from JerryRigEverything. Despite lacking a USB-C charging port, and older BT 4.2 standard, its simplicity and transparency make it far from boring.
Basic specs include a 2.8” QVGA internal display and a 1.77″ QQVGA external display. It also features a 0.3MP camera with LED flash, FM radio, and connectivity options such as 2G, 3G, 4G, Bluetooth 4.2, and a Micro USB port. The 1,450mAh removable battery offers up to 6 hours of 3G/4G talk time and o the 128MB internal storage is expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD.

In line with the popular theme of digital disconnection, HMD did an interesting partnership deal with a well-known party fueling Heineken and a tastemaker from the US, Bodega. The device will debut on Thursday, April 18th, at a pop-up Bodega at Milan Design Week, echoing the festival’s focus on design and innovation.
It seems that the device will be made as an edition of 5000 units, so if you are in the US, get your hands on it. Click the link below and get notified when the phone will be available. Now I’m off to get a cold one :).
