Video: Camera duel between Nokia Lumia 1020 and Huawei P40 Pro

YouTube channel WillItBeatNokia did, for many, yet another insane camera comparison. The contestants are Nokia Lumia 1020 and the latest superb camera phone Huawei P40 Pro. The age difference is huge between them, as well as the hardware&software approaches, but I must say that Nokia Lumia 1020 is still a capable shooter, and deserves to be compared with the modern camera smartphones. Also, I like to listen to Tarrega’s Gran Vals while comparing the photos, so please, do check it and tell what do you think.

I had a chance to briefly play with Huawei P40 Pro, and I must say that it is one of the best, if not the best camera shooters right now. The second best could be the Galaxy S20 Ultra +, but Lumia 1020 together with Nokia 808 are still great cameraphones, although their software wasn’t updated for the past 5 years or so.

Anyway, I couldn’t believe that the Nokia Lumia 1020 scored more points than the P40 Pro, even after seeing the photos. P40 Pro can see in the pitch dark, and create sharp images in that kind of light conditions, and the daylight shots are near perfect.

By checking the shots, I would give advantage to P40 Pro, but that isn’t the point here. The point is that Nokia was using super-advanced camera tech back when the Nokia Lumia 1020 was announced, and the phone still deserves to be compared with the best of 2020. Seven years have passed and the current leaders in the industry are catching up on what Nokia did in 2012 with Nokia 808. I wonder if Nokia Mobile will be able to launch something as good as Nokia Lumia 1020.
