Nokia Mobile: ZEISS to remain a partner for Nokia smartphones

Sony announced its latest camera phone Sony Xperia 1II that is coming with innovative ZEISS lenses that are improved with the T-coating layer.

This news wouldn’t be strange if ZEISS is not the exclusive partner with Nokia or HMD Global to be correct. We contacted Nokia Mobile and they shared the official statement about the freshly announced partnership between Sony and ZEISS.

HMD Global stated:

Sony has a strong heritage in imaging and we are happy to welcome them to the family. ZEISS has been contributing immensely to the process of development and qualification of imaging components and signature experiences for Nokia phones. We will continue to partner with them to develop more exclusive imaging experiences for Nokia phones.

The good news is that the partnership between Nokia and ZEISS isn’t over, and the German lens manufacturer will continue delivering new and exclusive imaging experiences for Nokia smartphones. The experience ZEISS gathered through the partnership with Nokia surely helped them develop solutions for Sony. These new imaging experiences created for Sony probably won’t come to Nokia phones, as some experiences created exclusively for Nokia won’t be going to other phone manufacturers. Maybe we’ll be seeing the same tech but rebranded. But, it is better to leave maybes behind and focus on the new Nokia smartphones to see what will ZEISS deliver with it.

Edit: Here is the press release from ZEISS about the new partnership with Sony.
