Nokia N8 | When Great Hardware Sometimes Isn’t Enough (Video)
|In this week’s episode of Nostalgia, we rediscover a true Nokia icon. No, it is not the Verizon exclusive Lumia 930, but the iconic Nokia N8, the first Symbian^3 device. The N8 was supposed to bring a new chapter of Nokia to life, with a brand new user experience designed from the ground up to work well on touchscreens. It was also the 2nd device to bring a capacitive touchscreen to the Nokia lineup (The honor goes to the X6 which I somehow totally forgot about). But most importantly, it packed all of Nokia’s hardware know-how into a very nice looking, almost indestructible build, in typical Nokia fashion. You can check the full video below:

The N8 packed plenty of innovations for its time, like a very impressive 12-megapixel camera with xenon flash, which was truly extraordinary. But all of the nice hardware couldn’t help shift the opinion over symbian^3, which just wasn’t enough of a radical departure from Symbian S60 5th edition, essentially repeating the same mistakes Nokia fell into with the N97. This time though offered in 5 beautiful color options! Symbian Belle tried to steer the ship in the right direction a few years later, but it was sadly too little too late.
So have you owned the Nokia N8? What was owning it like? Share your thoughts with us in the comments 🙂
