New HMD Device Hits FCC – 5G Smartphone for US market?

A new HMD device just passed through the FCC, and all signs point to a 5G smartphone. It supports GSM, WCDMA, LTE with carrier aggregation, and 5G NR (including band n77 with up to 100 MHz bandwidth). There’s also support for ENDC, SRS, and Wi-Fi hotspot use, plus hearing aid compatibility—typical smartphone features.

But here’s the twist: the model number is TA-1704, which is already linked to the HMD 130 Music feature phone. This might suggest that HMD is reusing model codes across different markets or device types—a common but confusing practice.

Based on the advanced connectivity and SAR details, it’s safe to say this isn’t a feature phone. It could be part of the upcoming Pulse2 or Skyline lineup, possibly even aimed at the North American market due to support for band 13 (Verizon).

This is the fill list of possible upcoming phones  as tiped by Mr. Jackson. New HMD smartphones incoming:

  • TA-1601,
  • TA-1672,
  • TA-1677,
  • TA-1719,
  • TA-1722,
  • TA-1731,
  • H1702V,
  • H1715V.

TA-1672 and TA-1677 could be the new Fusion SKUs (Fusion X1 and Barça Fusion), while H1702V and H1715V are US market models.

Mystery aside, something interesting is clearly on the way from HMD.

Cheers Mr. Jackson for the tip 😉
