Skyline 2 arriving this July?
|If you liked the original Skyline, there’s something to look forward to this summer. According to a fresh leak by the ever-reliable smashx_60 on X (it will always be Twitter for me), HMD is planning to launch the Skyline 2 in July. While the post doesn’t reveal the specs, the timing suggests that HMD might continue riding the nostalgia wave with another retro-inspired design, and hopefully address some of the issues users pointed out in the first model.
The original Skyline earned praise for its clean design and solid specs, which reminded many of the classic Lumia glory days. Also, later we found out that it should have been called Nokia Skyline thx to the leaks from HMD Fist Class app. However, camera hardware and software left room for improvement, especially considering HMD’s ambitions of reviving the “PureView” feel. I also noted not that great Qi2 wireless charging performance and underwhelming battery optimization, so these could be key areas where Skyline 2 steps things up.
Adding fuel to the fire, EUIPO currently lists six new empty design patent entries under HMD’s name. While none of them have visuals or details yet, it’s likely that one of those entries belongs to Skyline 2. If the first Skyline was HMD’s stylish comeback, the sequel could be their shot at refining the formula.
July isn’t that far off, and HMD seems to be picking up the pace with new releases in 2025. With devices like the Pulse series targeting budget-conscious users, Skyline 2 might be the premium halo phone that fans of the brand have been waiting for.
I’ll keep an eye on EUIPO entries and smashx_60’s X feed for more updates as the summer approaches.
