HMD Grows in India and AMEA with New Phones and Vision
|HMD Global reaffirmed India’s vital role in its global strategy, with company leaders calling it the brand’s top market in terms of financial contribution and talent. CEO Jean Francois Baril praised India’s growth and described it as a “big reservoir of talent,” while nearly 200 employees and key global functions are based in the country. HMD also underlined its commitment to local manufacturing, with almost all products sold in India being made domestically.
To strengthen its presence, HMD launched two new music-centric feature phones — HMD 130 Music and HMD 150 Music — priced at Rs 1,899 and Rs 2,399. Both offer a 2500 mAh battery, Bluetooth 5.0, Type-C fast charging, and UPI payment support. An entry-level 5G smartphone is also on the way. Additionally, HMD is continuing its partnership with the Rajasthan Royals as their official smartphone partner for IPL 2025.
The company is also seeing strong growth in its feature phone portfolio, particularly in AMEA (Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa), where consumers value simplicity, long battery life, and affordability. Recent launches like the HMD 130 Music and HMD 150 Music reflect this trend. Furthermore, HMD is integrating digital detox features across its broader lineup, including in its collaboration with FC Barcelona, and expanding innovation into accessories with products like the Amped Buds, which feature a wireless charging case that doubles as a power bank.
With nearly 100% local production in India and a growing focus on sustainability, repairability, and mindful tech, HMD is positioning itself as a standout player in both the smartphone and feature phone markets across key regions there.
