HMD Skyfish in the Works
|
Just a quick one—we have received an anonymous tip about a new device HMD is preparing for its fans. The device’s codename is Selfish, which suggests a continuation of HMD’s S line of devices, but it also hints at a new OS.
Apparently, Skyfish will use the chassis of the popular HMD Skyline, featuring nearly the same hardware. However, the biggest difference will be Jolla’s Sailfish OS. The device might come with the 5th generation of Sailfish OS, which is based on Nokia’s MeeGo, the operating system that came to life with the Nokia N9.
This means the device could unite two of Nokia’s iconic signatures—the Fabula design and a successor to MeeGo OS.
Man, if this deal had happened last year, I would have definitely bought a Skyline-like device with a Nokia logo and Sailfish OS. But this also sounds pretty unbelievable—Nokia being connected after its demise.
