Jolla Releases Sailfish OS 5 “Tampella” for MWC2025
|Jolla has officially released the fifth major version of its mobile operating system, Sailfish OS 5.0.0, codenamed “Tampella.” Actully, the first version of the latest OS update was released on October 2024 but just for Jolla C2 community phone, and the version 5.0.0.61 is now available for all supported Sailfish OS device users.
The 5th version of Sailfish OS brings a host of improvements, focusing on performance enhancements, security upgrades, and user interface refinements.
Key Highlights of Sailfish OS 5 “Tampella”:
- Faster and Smoother: Apps launch quicker, animations are smoother, and overall system performance is improved.
- Updated Browser: Now uses a newer engine (Gecko ESR91) for better website compatibility and security.
- Better Android App Support: Upgraded to Android 13 (API level 33), allowing more Android apps to run smoothly. Support for MicroG has also improved, helping apps that rely on Google services work better.
