HMD Orka, Nokia Feature Phone Updates and some more
|The continuous source of HMD news, smashx_60, posted again some details about the future plans HMD is planning on doing. Let’s startd with a new smartphone.
HMD Orka
The company is preparing to launch a new midrange smartphone, the HMD Orka, which seems to take inspiration from the Pulse(Crest Max) series. The phone will be coming with a pretty large display, unfortunately the IPS LVD one which suggests the phone is probably low-mid midranger. Here’s a breakdown of the key specs:
- Display: 6.78” FHD+ IPS LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate.
- Camera: 108MP main sensor and a 50MP selfie camera.
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon with 5G support.
- Memory: 8GB of RAM.
- Charging: 33W fast charging.
- Colors: Available in Purple, Green, and Blue.
While the specs are decent, especially the 120Hz display and high-megapixel cameras, it remains to be seen how the phone will perform in real-world usage and how competitive its pricing will be in the pretty crowded midrange market.
Lumia 830/1020-Inspired Smartphone
Another intriguing development is HMD’s plan to introduce a Lumia 1020-inspired smartphone featuring a triple-camera setup with unique sensors. The phone’s rounded camera module hints at a redesigned internal structure, potentially reflecting better investment in the planning and production of new devices. While details are limited, this could mark an exciting step forward for HMD in pushing its imaging technology.
The text reads “108MP OIS” and “1/1.2-ULTRA PIXEL“. This indicates a 108MP primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) and possibly a large sensor size (1/1.2″) for improved light capture and performance in low light. One sensor may be an ultra-wide camera, and another could be a telephoto or macro lens, based on typical configurations in modern smartphones. The fourth small circle might be a depth sensor, monochrome sensor, or even a specialized spectral sensor (for unique imaging applications?).
Now, there has been some mention of this phone before by smashx_60, but nothing much specific. This is the best render crop so far which brings a lot f details to think about.
T21 Tablet in New Color
HMD is also bringing the Nokia T21 tablet in a new color, aligning with current industry design trends. This small update shows the company’s effort to keep its tablet lineup visually appealing and relevant.
HMD T21 New colour “ice” is coming in 25.Dec.24. Here are the cpecs:
- IPS LCD 10.4″ 2K RES, Stylus support
- 8MP AI, PDAF / 8MP Wide
- Unisoc T612 SoC
- 4GB, 6GB + 128GB + Micro SD

Nokia Feature Phone Updates
HMD won’t stop just there. They are apparently thinking on revisiting its Nokia branded feature phone lineup with an interesting plan to update older models originally launched with Micro USB ports. These refreshed models will include USB-C ports and new features like cloud apps to stay relevant in today’s market.
For example, the Nokia 5710XA (2024) and Nokia 3310 4G (2024) are set to receive these updates. While the core designs might stay true to the originals, the addition of modern charging and software enhancements could make them more appealing for users seeking a mix of nostalgia and functionality.
These moves show HMD Global is working to cater to a range of users, from those wanting a feature-rich smartphones and tablets to those preferring simpler, updated feature phones. However, the success of these devices will largely depend on their execution, pricing, and availability.
