HMD 110 feature phone confirmed by retailer
|It seems that HMD will soon launch its own feature phone or phones, with the design based on the well-proven design of previous Nokia feature phones. Over the past eight years, HMD has been refining and launching its own designs of Nokia feature phones, which have received positive feedback. Credit for this goes to ex-Nokia designers like Raun Forsyth, the head of design at the company.
Recently, the Indian retailer SkyMobileIndia posted an announcement on Instagram for the Nokia 3210 and HMD 110, the latter of which was leaked recently. The design is based on the Nokia 130, but it resembles the Nokia 110 launched in 2023, likely including similar specifications. Nokia 110 44G used the entry-level Unisoc T107 that supports 4G calls, and VoLTE HD too. There is also a BT 5.0 on board and a moderately large 1450 mAh battery.
This move by HMD suggests that Nokia might be considering a complete withdrawal from the phone business. The recent rebranding of the company and the removal of the iconic Nokia logo from feature phones are indicators of this potential shift. HMD has launched several new feature phones lately, possibly indicating they are clearing stock of already developed models. These phones will remain on the market for a while and will likely be succeeded by HMD-branded feature phones.
This might signal the final end for Nokia in the phone business. Ericsson did it over 13 years ago, Nokia might do the same.
