HMD Arc, Updated Aura, Pops Up on Geekbench

Not long ago, HMD launched the affordable HMD Aura smartphone, featuring somewhat dated hardware. Equipped with a V-notch display and powered by the Unisoc SC9863A1, it served as an entry-level option for select markets.

Now, a potential successor has appeared on Geekbench under the name “Arc.” The phone shows modest hardware specifications, with 4 GB of RAM and Geekbench scores of 201 points for single-core and 725 points for multi-core performance.

Overall, it looks like HMD will soon introduce another entry-level phone. However, the SoC architecture suggests the octa-core processor might offer better performance than the Unisoc SC9863A1. Another detail in the Geekbench listing reveals the codename “Nyx“, a nod to HMD’s tradition of using Marvel-inspired names, established by Juho Sarvikas. In mythology, Nyx is a powerful figure—the Goddess of Night and one of the oldest gods, even feared by Zeus. She was also the mother of Hemera, the Goddess of Day, and Thanatos, the God of Death, among others.

This device could potentially be the Aura 2, leaked by Smashx_60 back in September, though it’s still too early to say for certain based on Geekbench listings alone.
