Unisoc Completes Android 15 Update
|Unisoc has announced the completion of the Android 15 update for their SoC, which explains why Android 15 builds have recently appeared on the Nokia Pulse series. This move highlights Unisoc’s commitment to timely updates, an area where Qualcomm and MediaTek have often lagged. Many custom ROMs still depend on Code Aurora Forum to update Qualcomm chipsets, but Unisoc’s direct support offers a much smoother experience for manufacturers and users alike.
HMD Global’s devices powered by Unisoc chips could see faster Android updates and better performance, adding value to their new brand and some existing Nokia-branded devices. Vendor support is crucial for long-term user satisfaction, and Unisoc is setting a good example here. Could this be a hint that other OEMs should rethink their update strategies?
This also puts Unisoc in a stronger position to compete with bigger players like Qualcomm and MediaTek, who have been criticized for slow update rollouts. For HMD, which has built a reputation for delivering regular security patches and OS updates (well kind of), partnering with a proactive chip vendor on the software side could position them better in the low-end smartphone market.
Let’s see if this means more Android 15 builds across their portfolio soon.
Cheers to h_1995 for the tip 😉
