New Devices from HMD Global Coming to Thailand

HMD Global might bring seven new devices to Thailand, expanding its portfolio of Nokia and HMD devices with feature phones and smartphones. Here’s a brief overview of the new devices HMD might announce soon:

1. Nokia 3210 4G: A modern take on the classic Nokia 3210, now with 4G capabilities, combining nostalgia with contemporary technology.
2. Nokia 215 4G (2024): An updated version of the popular Nokia 215, offering enhanced connectivity with 4G support.
3. Nokia 235 4G (2024): Another entry in the feature phone segment, designed for users seeking reliable communication with 4G speeds.
4. HMD Pulse+ 4/128GB: A low-end smartphone with solid performance and ample storage, catering to budget-conscious consumers.
5. HMD Pulse Pro 6/128GB: An upgraded version of the Pulse+, providing more RAM for better multitasking and performance.
6. HMD Claws 8/128GB: A new device aimed at power users, offering robust specifications and performance.
7. HMD Skyline 8/256GB: The flagship model of the lineup, featuring extensive storage and top-tier specifications for demanding users.

Now, I don’t know how you feel, but to me, the new naming scheme is a bit confusing. Let’s just take the HMD Nighthawk and all of its possible names. It seems that HMD adopted something I have been saying for a long time: there should be a single model present in different markets with different prices.

A notable point of confusion in the recent announcements is the HMD Nighthawk series, which appears to have multiple names across different markets. This variability in naming can be attributed to regional marketing strategies and consumer preferences. Specifically, there is HMD Claws, which is actually the HMD Arrow, the name used in the Indian market.

Such changes in names across different regions can lead to confusion among consumers. However, this strategy allows HMD Global to tailor their branding to better suit local markets and cultural preferences, potentially enhancing the product’s reception and market success.

Deliberate Leaks?

Interestingly, the Twitter account HMD Meme’s is leaking so many details of the upcoming HMD devices that it almost seems like the account might be operated by HMD Global itself, suggesting that these leaks could be a deliberate marketing strategy. By creating a sense of intrigue and anticipation, HMD Global might be engaging with its audience more informally and engagingly. Just kidding, great work @smash. Keep the info coming!

By the way, doesn’t this Nightwatch phone resemble a bit Lumia 925 and Lumia 830 or is it just me? Mabe a bit more to 830 with that white antenna lines and more square-ish aluminium frame.
