Nokia expands its defence communication portfolio

After losing the AT&T deal, Nokia updated its business strategy at the end of last year to adjust the 2026 comparable operating margin target and initiate new plans for 2024. These plans included some new acquisitions, notably the announcement of the acquisition of the Fenix Group. This acquisition should enable Nokia to offer a new suite of solutions to its defence customers, particularly those in the US.

Nokia announced it has acquired Fenix Group, a Virginia-based defence company specializing in tactical communications. This acquisition expands Nokia’s defence portfolio by adding Fenix’s Banshee and Talon MANET radios, enhancing its capabilities to provide secure and reliable communication solutions for defence customers.

The acquisition aligns with Nokia’s strategy to grow its role as a key technology provider for mission-critical defence needs. The deal required approval from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States due to Nokia being a foreign entity.

This is surely interesting. Nokia is becoming tacticool.
