HMD to make a feature phone too?

Hikari Calyx released two photos showing an HMD feature phone next to what is most likely a Nokia 105/110 or a similar model. The HMD phone resembles the Nokia 130, which was announced in 2023. However, the back of the HMD phone features a camera module, whereas the Nokia 130 has an LED torch and a speaker grill.

Not much is known about the HMD feature phone, but it seems that the same ODM might be manufacturing it. The device never came to market, and there is a possibility it won’t anytime soon. I suppose that HMD realized Nokia feature phones still sell better than HMD phones and are partially responsible for maintaining cash flow and keeping the company alive.

It’s uncertain if Nokia will continue to keep its name on feature phones after the 10-year contract with HMD expires, or if they might end their phone line like Ericsson did in 2011.

One thing is certain: with a feature phone like this, you can’t go wrong. There aren’t many mistakes to be made, especially if you’re producing the same devices but under a more renowned brand.
