The unboxing of HMD Pulse (reader content)

A reader has contacted us and shared some photos and videos of the very first unboxing of the HMD Pulse. HMD, formerly known as the home of Nokia devices and now rebranded as Human Mobile Devices, has launched its inaugural smartphone, the HMD Pulse. Positioned as an entry-level phone, it shares its hardware and body with two other variants, the HMD Pulse+ and Pulse Pro.

The standard Pulse is already available for purchase across the EU, and one of our readers, Oliver Mullins, has graciously provided us with photos and a video of his unboxing experience. The device comes packaged in a beautifully designed box containing the device itself, a SIM door pin, and a charging/data cable. Notably, the charger is sold separately. Additionally, the back of the box reveals HMD’s plans to sell covers with attractive patterns, departing from the traditional monochrome style. Also, the box tells you that iFixit will be selling extra parts you can change yourself if they get broken.

The device is wrapped in recyclable paper, a commendable eco-friendly choice. Oliver opted for the black variant, although the orange option also looks appealing. The phone boasts a sleek and minimalistic design, maintaining the Nokia aesthetic while incorporating HMD’s vibrant colors and style.

Check out Oliver’s unboxing video below.

The startup page differs slightly from what we’re accustomed to with Nokia phones, hinting at HMD’s emphasis on vibrant colors. Oliver also captured the startup tone, which, while slightly unusual, serves its purpose.

Check out the boot-up tone:

It seems that the first update is available for HMD Pulse. It is Android 14 Build V1.080 (68.95MB) which is bringing some UI enhancements, better system stability and February patch.

Thanks Oliver once again!
