Nokia G42 5G is now receiving the Android 14 update

The first phone to undergo testing on Geekbench is the same one that is receiving the official Android 14 update. It took a while for Nokia Mobile to roll out Android 14 to its first phone, but the update is finally here.

The update V2.160 has started appearing globally on the Nokia G42 5G, with a size of 2.68 GB.

Android 14 has been in circulation, and to highlight its major updates:

– A simpler way to track your health data
– Proactively provides easy-to-understand information about app data permissions, and now you can choose what to grant with more ease
– New visual and hearing inclusive features
– Camera and screen flashes for notifications
– Larger fonts and smarter scaling
– Improved battery life with the return of the screen time since the last full charge option
– Improved customizations with a lock screen picker, lock screen templates, a monochromatic theme, and support for Ultra HDR images
– Predictive Back Gestures
– Improved share options

The update also includes a December security patch, which might be a bit disappointing since January is coming to an end. However, it’s possible that the update was tested with the December patch (or intended for release in December), so I’ll give them a pass.

Android 14 has appeared on our G42, and it’s also available globally. Please report back if you have received it.

I’m impressed with how fast it took G42 to download and install the update. the installation went fine and the phone is up and running Android 14. Need to play a bit with it to report how it behaves but I see some new transitions and animations are being used and the phone doesn’t feel slowed down by them at all.
