Nokia 3.4, 5.4 and G60 5G receiving new updates

Nokia Mobile is eager to bring the latest security update to all of its supported phones as soon as possible. The release of software patches has improved lately, but that’s not surprising, considering HMD’s careful attention to this segment of its smartphones. The latest limited edition of Nokia XR21 is being promoted as super tough, boasting MIL-STD-810H level durability and a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty that includes 4 years of monthly security updates.

Nokia 3.4 receiving September security patch. Shot on Nokia X30 (Night Mode)

Nokia 5.4 and 3.4 received the September 2023 security patch in the UK last week, and the update is now available for 3.4 in Croatia as well! The size of the update for Nokia 5.4 is 26.01 MB while the update for 3.4 brings 24.01 MB of patches. Man, it took a while for Nokia 3.4 to install it, but it is there. Also, this is the last security patch for Nokia 3.4 since the support lasts till November 2023.

On the other hand, Nokia G60 5G has just received a new Android Build update, V2.390, which is 116 MB in size. This update brings system improvements, UI enhancements, and a September security patch. I haven’t noticed any significant improvements since the device was working nicely, and the installation went smoothly.

To ensure that your device remains secure and up-to-date, go to Settings > System > System Update > Check for Updates.

As our observant reader has noticed, the new October security patch introduces three patch levels instead of the usual 01 and 05. The new level is 06, which may have been added after the 01 and 05 were sent to manufacturers, as the security exploit has already been observed in use, as described at the beginning of this document. It will be interesting to see whether Nokia updates will carry the date 2023-10-05 or 2023-10-06 in their October releases. For more details, please refer to the October security bulletin.

We would like to express our gratitude to Anthony and MickyB Aus for their valuable insights and tips.
