First million of Nokia phones assembled in Pakistan
Markets like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are of great importance for Nokia Mobile, and Nokia phones there are still well accepted. To cut the production and logistics costs, Nokia Mobile partnered with local manufacturers to make and assemble phones in those countries.
A nice example is coming from Pakistan where the millionth Nokia phone has been assembled. Nokia Mobile partnered with Techno Pak Electronics (Private) Limited in Pakistan and invested around 2 million USD in the assembly line there making a million phones in just 6 months.
This way Nokia Mobile is contributing to the local economy through technology transfer, local tax revenues, and also by employing the workforce.
