Even though the Android One program was chosen for the Nokia brand because of its simplicity and faster major OS updates and regular security updates release, that didn’t turn out well with the latest update. Till today, the list of Nokia devices that got Android 11 update consists of just six phones, with many more eligible devices still waiting for the update to arrive.
In a Q&A session organized for selected media, Adam Ferguson, the current marketing head of Nokia Mobile, answered the most frequent question Nokia fans are asking lately.
He said that many Nokia devices will be getting Android 11 in April, but he couldn’t define which models. Ferguson also said that the main reason for the huge delay in the update release on Nokia devices was the reason Nokia phones not being a part of the Android Developer Program for Android 11.
Well, I don’t know why Nokia Mobile wasn’t there in the Beta Labs of the next major update, but with becoming the second manufacturer next to Samsung to offer three years of OS updates, it looks to me that the Android One program might be coming to its end, or its presence reduced to just G series of Nokia smartphones.
Anyways, the next releases will probably give us a clearer look at the future of the Android club being utilized. Florian Seiche mentioned that Nokia’s ambition is not to be the cheapest at the market, but offer great services and update policy, so lets see.
