Nokia Mobile, in its almost four years of existence, has launched around five phones that have the word ‘Plus’ in their names. Starting with the Nokia 7 Plus in February 2018, followed by Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus, Nokia 3.1 Plus, and the last one was Nokia 1 Plus in February 2019. Thereafter Nokia Mobile has refrained from using ‘Plus’ in the naming scheme of the phones too often. Well, they did not use it at all. Even Pranav Shroff, Ex-GM, Global Portfolio, HMD Global, said in an interview that “the intent is to do a lot less plus models, if not get rid of them”.

However, now it seems that Nokia Mobile is back at it again. As per the retailers in Australia, Nokia Mobile is planning to launch a new smartphone that will carry the name Nokia C1 Plus. The Australian retailers, Aus Shop IT and Solutions by Brandon, have listed the TA-1314 Dual SIM model of Nokia C1 Plus meant for Australia, New Zealand, and Oceania (ANZO). Their listing titles also suggest that the device will come in Blue and Red colors with the configuration of 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory.

Aus Shop IT expects the device to be in stock starting December 21, which probably means a mid-December launch. The price of the device is quite different on both the sites; Solutions by Brandon mentions it as AU$92 (€57₹ 4990, US$67), while Aus Shop IT has priced it at AU$111 (€69₹ 6050, US$82). Interestingly, the device was also added to Wi-Fi’s database a few days ago.

The specifications that we could gather about Nokia C1 Plus till now is as follows:

  • Model: TA-1314
  • Colors: Blue, Red
  • SIM: Dual SIM
  • OS: Android 10 Go
  • RAM: 1 GB
  • ROM: 16 GB
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz (802.11 b/g/n)

Nokia C1 was announced last year in December, and we already have its successors, Nokia C2 and Nokia C3, which were launched this year in March and August respectively. Though Nokia C1 Plus will be a new smartphone, but its name will put it between Nokia C1 and Nokia C2, which again can create some confusions for the masses. Anyway, it will be interesting to see that how will Nokia Mobile place this device in its portfolio.
