Video: Nice camera comparison between Nokia Lumia 1020 and HONOR View 20

It might seem foolish to compare old tech with a modern one, but definitely isn’t when you are trying to take down a king of camera phones. The king is rather old, tied up for a hospital bed with an oxygen supply stacked up in its nose, and others are taking care of the kingdom, but it is still a king. You can probably guess who the king is, the Nokia Lumia 1020, and one of the pretenders to a throne is HONOR View 20 with its 48 MP camera. Lumia 1020 came with an improved 41 MP camera of Nokia 808 camera. Actually, it was the second generation of a PureView tech that gave us optical stabilization with that 41 MP sensor, and some new software to go along with it. Lumia 1020 has an aperture of f/2.2 and pixel size of 1.12 um. On the other hand, View 20 has 48 MP camera that came with a bigger aperture of f/1.8, but with a smaller 0.8 um pixels. You might say that the camera of View 20 doesn’t have a chance against the one of Lumia 1020 because of the pixel size, but the usage of the pixels is a bit different. While the camera of 1020 uses the whole sensor to get a shot, the camera of the View 20 uses Quad-Bayer technology that makes a 12 MP shot by using four pixels as one larger pixel.
Check out the nicely conceded camera comparison, condensed in just over 5 minutes backed with a quality comparison shots and explanations.

The reviewer stated that the Lumia 1020 camera gave more real colors on the photos, an that the overall sharpness was better, while the camera of Honor View 20 gave better low light shots. The advancements in the post-processing might be better with much younger View 20, but the reviewer said that sometimes it can be too aggressive and often reveals noise on the shots.

We are all aware that Lumia 1020 is no longer a king of camera phones since numerous manufacturers (Samsung, Huawei, LG, Google…) managed to surpass its camera in general quality of the photos produced, but in a field of 41 MP shooters, Lumia 1020 can still show some teeth. It is nice to see that the tech from 2013 can still be used as a comparison. Maybe a more interesting comparison will be between the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the upcoming Nokia 9 Pureview.
