Nokia (HMD Global) sponsoring teams again. Proud sponsor of Kolkata Knight Riders

When Nokia’s Devices and Services department was running the phone business, sponsoring of various sports events or teams was standard. Now, when HMD took over the responsibility to bring Nokia phones back to the market, sponsorship is a thing that was missing. But, seems that things are changing there also, since Nokia Mobile India has just announced that they will be sponsoring Kolkata Knight Riders, a famous Indian cricket team. Actually, Nokia is the principal sponsor of the team and that is why the Nokia logo took the best position on KKR jersey.

Anyway, funny thing is that the official sponsor is also Jio, a company that is a big competitor of Nokia in the Indian market. Jio launched a feature phone that is nearly free to users of their network and Jio phone is conquering the Indian market of feature phones as crazy. Well, it is good to see that Nokia is back in this kind of brand representation and that we’ll see its brand on jerseys of other teams or sportsman around the globe.
