Nokia TA-1048, another 4G feature phone, passed FCC

A Nokia-branded mobile phone under the model number TA-1048 just passed FCC certification. This is the first time we hear about a TA-1048, and the device is classified as a GSM/WCDMA/LTE Mobile Phone, not as “smartphone” as regular smartphones are.

Nokia TA-1048 is probably not a variant of the rumored Nokia TA-1047, that some allege that should have a QWERTY keyboard. To be frank, the QWERTY keyboard thing is and will be (until HMD announces it) a speculation. Other variants of the device known as TA-1047 are TA-1060, TA-1056, TA-1079 and TA-1066, as revealed by Bluetooth SIG.

Nokia 3310 4G announced in China carries the model number TA-1077. The certified TA-1048 could be a global version of the Nokia 3310 4G (just guessing) or maybe another variant of the TA-1047. FCC revealed that it will support Dual-SIM (uses MicroSIM) and have a slot for MicroSD card. HMD asked for a 45 day delay of posting photos and the manual of the 4G phone online, so we don’t know how it looks.

We will probably see this device next week at HMD’s MWC press conference.
