HMD Global released in China the Android 8.0 Oreo update for Nokia 7. Nokia 7 features specifications similar to Nokia 6 (2018), that already received Android Oreo, so the update for 7 was expected soon after, because of the same chipset used (Snapdragon 630).
The update for Nokia 7, that is still exclusively available in China, is 788MB in size and brings changes as a new Settings UI, more gestures like double tap to wake up, performance and battery life improvements, display improvements and other standard changes coming with Android 8.0 Oreo.
Nokia Mobile also announced that Android 8.0 Oreo will soon be available for the Nokia 6 in China (TA-1000 China, TA-1003 Hong Kong & Taiwan), but no precise date was given.
Keep in mind, Nokia 6 and Nokia 7 run a different version of Android compared to the Nokia device available globally. Because of government regulations and specific market conditions, HMD modified the AOSP(?) version of the OS with additional features, but lacking pre-installed Google services.
The global Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 are, at the moment, in an Android Oreo beta test, and we can expect an official Oreo update soon, considering the duration of the beta test (almost a month for the 5) and the fact that Oreo, at least on my 5 and Marin’s 6, works very well.
