Chinese retailer Suning.com officially announced, before HMD, the new Nokia 6 2018. Nokia 6 2nd generation is the newest addition to the Nokia Android smartphone family. Announced in China, it will also go on sale first in China. The 6 2nd generation comes with an improved design and upgraded specifications. Details follow down below.

The second generation of Nokia 6 comes in an Aluminum 6000 unibody housing, in 2 color tones. The 6 (2018) features a 5.5-inch fullHD display, but compared to the 1st generation, the navigation buttons are now on-screen, while the fingerprint sensor was moved to the back.

The back camera is 16MP with a f/2.0 aperture, phase-detection autofocus and dual LED flash. The front camera is 8MP with the same aperture. Nokia 6 2nd generation supports Bothie and dual vision video recording. Nokia’s OZO sound recording technology is also present there, which is a huge step for a midrange device.

Inside, Nokia 6 2nd generation is powered by Snapdragon 630 in combination with 4GB LPRDDR4 RAM. We also have a 3000mAh battery inside, that can be fast charged over the USB type C port. The built in memory is 32GB or 64GB. It also has a headphone jack. Compared to Nokia 6 1st generation, unfortunately, Nokia 6 2nd generation drops the stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos for a single speaker, and without any mention of Dolby Atmos on the official website.

The phone runs Android 7.1.1 out of the box, but will receive the Android Oreo update. The price in China for the 32GB variant is 191 euro, while the 64GB variant will cost 216 euros. The sales start on 10th January, for the white and black color version, via JD.com (64GB) and Suning.com (32GB and 64GB).

This type of body is probably 10x faster to produce than, for example, the full copper version 🙂

    So faster rollout is likely…

    • I hope we get more colors for Global variants. 🙂

  • I’m honestly surprised. Still waiting for more info, but for €200 this looks top notch.

    • Viccky Maurya

I want specs. to be same for the Rest of World…

    • The bezels look bigger in promo pics compared to TENNA

Great upgrade over 2017 but 7.1… Hope the international one comes with oreo out of the box.

      • Gerrard Jr

it will probably come with oreo
and btw, for 16:9 display, with 148mm tall, bezels will be there

        • Not really complaining about bezels but could’ve fit front facing speakers maybe.

          • Gerrard Jr

nokia 5 with snapdragon 450 would be really interesting…

            btw, i agree with you
moto x play with the same height of this new nokia 6 have front firing speaker, and it’s a three year old device…

          • Just read over npu Nokia 7 coming to India by the end of Jan..

2018 is like Lets be confused.

          • Gerrard Jr

i see that after i saw your comment…
now its confusing, Rs 10000 price difference with same processor, same battery, ozo and bothie…
that’s quite confusing…but if they could sell at 20000, it still makes sense

if they release nokia 7 two months ago, it could be a hit…
so far…hmd are a bit late in reaching these important market

          • If they launch Nokia 7 for 20k then how will Nokia 6 (2018) be priced. It is still confusing lol. Current Nokia 6 will get atleast 1.5k price cut and the price of Nokia 6 (2018) will be higher than the current Nokia 6. So, if they bring Nokia 7 to India then it will be priced around 23-25k IMO. Still both have almost same specs and the screen on Nokia 6 is bigger than Nokia 7. 😛

      • Yeah, that with TENAA is strange. I think the global will come with Oreo.

    • Manpreet Singh

Hey. Can you predict how much effort is required to implemEnt bothie in a smartphone. How much it effect the cost??

      • Really don’t know that. Can’t even make a prediction because it’s a software feature.

        • Manpreet Singh

          Any information of Dolby Atmos??

          • It has Nokia’s OZO Audio. So, no Dolby Atmos. 🙂

          • Manpreet Singh

Ozo audio is only for recording i think??

          • It is. Don’t know if it affects reproduction. Will ask that 🙂

          • As @disqus_Fwhc13VCQT:disqus said, no mention of Dolby Atmos and speaker is now mono.

          • They should have kept the stereo speakers of Nokia 6 2017. But its OK. 🙂

          • Yeah, for the sake of being stereo. It’s interesting that the 8 with a mono reproduces better sound than the 6 (global, at least). Maybe they saw during development that the difference isn’t that big, and decided to cut it off.
Don’t like things from predecessors being removed on current devices 🙁

          • IMO they should provide “real stereo” with 2 seperate speakers and a seperate earpiece. My Nokia X2-00 has 2 seperate speakers and that was released in 2010 I think. 😊
Many Indian reviewers didn’t like the earpiece acting as second speaker. The sound is uneven.
if they give stereo speakers then it should be a proper stereo or else Mono if fine too. 😊

  • Manpreet Singh

Bothie. Ozo better camera and usb -c. Sd630. I think it’s gonna rock the market

  • Viccky Maurya

Very interesting, now it seems HMD is doing really good job, but aperture should have been 1.8 or 1.7, rest is awesome…(atleast for me) 😀

  • Abhimanyu Chauhan

what is the point of releasing nokia 6(2018) in china.they already have 7 with better camera and glass design in china.they should nokia 6 release it worldwide asap

    • Nick

    • User212

  • Gerrard Jr

    Nice,
    snapdragon 630
    bothie
    ozo audio
same price (convert in Indian Rupee)

I wish for 3500 mah battery
but still it’s a great device…at the price
    good job HMD

  • Peter Chastain

When does it come to the US? And did they fix the wake-on-sensor “bug”? I hate that my phone will wake while in my pocket simply because the fingerprint sensor detects thru my pants or shirt.

    • We still have no info about the global version of the 6. Probably it will be launched at MWC2018

  • Carlos zamora

Micro USB type c? Which connection port is it actually using?

    • Type C according to Suning. Corrected. Thanks.

  • Noel

Not bad…but I always want more in terms of battery capacity, say like 3500+mAh. Camera aperture should’ve been f/1.8, but I guess it’s ok for the price.

Besides Huawei**…which top OEM in 2018 will deliver a 16:9AR 6″ QHD fullview screen phone with minimal bezels, large 4000+mAh battery with fast charging, a very good camera, quad dac with maybe ffs speakers & headphone jack, SD 845, 6RAM/ 128GB storage plus SD card slot etc. WHO????

  • david.luesley@gmail.com

I have the first generation 6. For 150.00usd I am very pleased. It was unlocked and has been flawless in operation. It is vanilla Android so never a problem with apps. The cons are under powered snapdragon ( though not that annoying) and the battery is medium storage.
Also more durable than expected. Has taken a few nosedives into concrete and no damage cosmetically or operationally.

  • Stinger

It looks really, really good! Great specs for the price too.

  • Khairul Bashar
