Rumor: Nokia 6 could come with Snapdragon 450?

Nokia 6 (2018), or TA-1054, already got revealed, but HMD is still quiet about it. This device is obviously going to be China exclusive for few moths so first information about its hardware internals started coming from China. Actually, they always do…

The first interesting thing that many want to know is the size of the screen. Latest version of the 6 lost capacitive control buttons below the screen so it made her slicker, with smaller bezels around the screen. But, we still don’t know if the diagonal of the screen is enlarged or stayed the same. At Chinese Nokibar forum two new info can be found.

One source, that was usually always giving solid data, said it is 6-inch screen and has 18:9 ratio. Another gave a screenshot of some operator page where display diagonal is the same (5.5 inch). The same source revealed dimension of the Nokia 6 which are 148.8 x 75.8 x 8.15 mm (Nokia 6 2017:154 x 75.8 x 7.9 mm). The phone is a bit smaller in size, kept the same width and is a bit thicker (or this is thickness with the camera module?).

The first source also mentioned that Nokia 6 is going to have Snapdragon 450 chipset. It could come as a disappointment, but for the price range this processor seems right. Snapdragon 450 is built in 14nm technology which makes it energy efficient. It is more than 30% faster than its predecessor. It comes with 8 Cortex A53 cores, supports cameras up to 21 MP and also 18:9 screen ratio which confirms the 6-inch screen info. Adreno 506 is assigned for the graphics processing. Nokia 6 could support Quick Charge 3.0. with this chipset.

Just to recap what are the latest hardware specs for Nokia 6 (2018):

  • Dimensions: 148.8 x 75.8 x 8.15 mm
  • Screen: 5.5 or 18/9 6-inch Full HD
  • Processor: Snapdragon 450/Adreno506
  • Memory: 32/64 GB
  • Battery: 3000 mAh
  • Price: 1499 Yuan (32GB) or 1699 Yuan (64GB)

HMD will probably announce the device soon and Nokia 6 is going to be appealing to many people. We know that it could support dual camera option which will make it closer to higher price range of Nokia devices, and then some other hardware components will make her available to many.
