Nokia 5 and 6 next in line for Nokia Beta Labs and Android Oreo
|Today, HMD Global officially started the rollout of Android Oreo for Nokia 8. The update will be rolling out over the period of next two days, but for some devices that need operator approval that could take up to a week (or more?). It was also revealed today that the next devices in line for the Nokia Beta Labs program for testing Android Oreo Beta will be Nokia 6 and Nokia 5.
Yes, Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 next. Just reviewed today, we will open Beta Labs for those models soon

HMD’s CPO Juho Sarvikas shared via Twitter that the Beta Labs will soon open for Nokia 6 and Nokia 5 so that interested users can download the OS and help HMD develop/polish the final version of Oreo. Soon is an often used term in the tech industry, so it’s pointless to speculate when that will happen. Another thing to think about is that the end of 2017 is really near (just a month and a week), and probably not all Nokia Android smartphones will get Oreo by the end of this year.
Hi Dhruvin! I’m not going to give specific dates since in the end we won’t release until quality is just right and we might always choose to take a week or two to get there. We have builds on this and actively testing & maturing together with @MediaTek

Juho also shared that HMD is already working with MediaTek for Nokia’s 3 Android Oreo update, and that they have “Oreo builds” already running on the device, but it’s far from done yet. Other HMD smartphones, like Nokia 2 and Nokia 7, will also be updated to Oreo once HMD finishes the software.
