Android 8 Oreo officially available for Nokia 8

The beta testing is over, and starting today, HMD Global has begun the official rollout of Android 8 Oreo for the Nokia 8 flagship smartphone. The update is huge, literally (1520MB) and in features, bringing options like: Picture-in-Picture, Notification dots, November security patch, Faster boot up and more. To download the update open Settings->About phone->System updates. Keep in mind, the update is rolling out in stages, and depending on your model number, operator and market, it can take time before the update becomes available for your device.

Did you receive Oreo on your Nokia 8? Tell us down below. 🙂

Thanks Akilesh for the tip. 🙂

still wait 4 it (germany), hope they fix the bad camera.

The camera needs updated firmware and better software, too, I think. Neither are in this update, but hopefully coming soon!

Other than that, how are you liking your Nokia 8? We like ours. Feels good in the hand and 3rd party apps get around any other stock Android limitation.

Yes I agree I’m loving it generally. I came from a Lumia 950 so was worried I wouldn’t match the great screen and camera, but the stock android experience and all the apps have made me genuinely more productive, I get so much done on my phone now! It does feel great in the hand too. Very happy.

      • This update improves the focusing of the camera, according to XDA members. Probably other aspects as well, but an UI update will be much more welcomed.

I’ve been enjoying reading all the “hater” comments today. ha ha ha. Nokia/HMD is delivering an excellent service that many big players won’t match. I’m still smiling…lol.
