#Nokia introduces a complete portfolio of Health gadgets @NokiaHealth
|Today marks the beginning of a new era for Nokia, but that’s nothing new for a company famous for entering, dominating and exiting many markets in its 150+ years long past. After last year’s acquisition of the Franch Health gadgets maker Withings, Nokia announced that it plans to step up its game in the “Digital Health” segment. Don’t be fooled that Nokia is entering an unknown territory, even if it seems that way. Tens of billions of euros were spent over the course of last two decades in Research & Development and we saw a lot of leaks from the R&D labs pointing out the innovation Nokia planned for the Health segment, but sadly with the fall of the mobile business, R&D was cut significantly and so were the related projects.
Nokia today announced that they are pushing to market the most complete line of connected consumer Health products by rebranding the Withings lineup into Nokia, and adding some welcomed changes.
Nokia today announced two new products from the “Digital Health” business inside Nokia Technologies – Nokia Body, Wi-Fi connected smart scale and Nokia BPM+, a compact blood pressure monitor. The whole Nokia hardware lineup of Health gadgets includes:
-
Body Cardio – Heart Health & Body Composition Wi-Fi Scale (€180)
-
Steel – Activity & Sleep Watch (€130)
-
Thermo – Smart Temporal Theromometer (€100)
-
BMP+ – Compact Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor (€100)
-
Home – Video & Air Quality Monitor (€200)
-
Steel HR – Heart Rate & Activity Watch (€190)
-
Go – Activity & Sleep tracker (€50)
-
Body – Weight & BMI Wi-Fi Scale (€60)
-
Body Plus – Body Composition Wi-Fi Scale (€100)
Nokia published today the redesigned Health Mate application for iOS and Android Devices. Of course, we downloaded the app on our Nokia 6 and are quite surprised by the number of things you can do even if you don’t own a Nokia Health gadget. Nokia Health Mate allows you to manually add your activities, blood pressure, nutrition, weight and measure your heart rate using the camera and LED flash on the back of the device. The app can also count your steps using the sensor in the phone. A major positive thing for all Nokia fans is that the iPhone is gone from official sites as the device running the Health Mate app, and now we have the lovely Nokia 3.
To celebrate the entrance into the Health market, Nokia created a “next-generation” advertising video in VR using Nokia’s VR camera OZO+ and OZO software. The video is titled “Healthier Together” and premiered at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Check it down below.
You can find all the Health-related Nokia gadgets at health.nokia.com where you can also order the devices. The new rebranded device will soon come to retail partners like Target or Apple, and are already available at Amazon or Best Buy. You can download the Health Mate for iOS here or for Android here.
