Leak: #Nokia 8 with 13MP front and 13MP rear dual-lens camera

The closer we get to the HMD event scheduled for 16th August, more leaks about devices that could be announced there surface on the web. This time we have new photos from China that confirm some already known specifications of Nokia 8, like the Snapdragon 835, 5.3-inch 2K screen or the 4GB RAM. But, this time we also learn something new, and that’s that the front camera of Nokia 8 will have a fairly large 13MP sensor and will be capable of recording Ultra HD (4K) video.

The rear camera will also have 13MP resolution, but it will feature 2 sensors: one RGB and one monochromatic. The rear camera will probably be ZEISS branded and you can learn more about how it will work by clicking here.

The, so far, known specifications of the Nokia 8 are:

  • 5.3-inch 2K display
  • Snapdragon 835
  • 4GB RAM
  • 64GB storage
  • 13MP dual-lens back camera with ZEISS branding
  • 13MP front camera
  • Android 7.1.1 (or 8)
  • about €500 price tag

The announcement of Nokia 8 is expected at HMD’s 16th August event in London. Down below, you can find a gallery of some real-life pictures and renders that were leaked before.

  • It’s funny how some websites reporting the cat video featured phone is Nokia 8.
    Fake News Sells.

    Nokia 8
I feel like it’ll end up coming with 7.1.1/7.1.2 and not 8.0

Hope to see a revamped Camera UI.

Surprising, no Battery capacity leak yet.
Hope they put out biggest out of current flagship offerings.

    • rodrigo mansani

      2500 mah πŸ˜›

      • Bad one.. (The Joke)

    • I’ll give you 3300mAh

      • As seen with S8 and S8+, Snapdragon 835 is really power efficient. 3300mAh with 5.3-inch screen will last a day for “powerusers” without a problem. 3600 would be “revolutionary” hehehe

        • Power efficient unless you start gaming πŸ˜‚ Super smooth gaming and battery bar also slips very smoothly, no hiccups.
But yes, very satisfying battery backup (for my usage) on my OP5. Lasts a day, everyday.

        • 3600 sounds good… Maybe 4000 and we’re over two days for battery life.

  • Stinger

The more leaks I read, the more this phone seems ideal for me. It might even be slightly overkill, ha ha. I have yet to use a selfie camera (stop laughing), so a 13 megapixel front facing camera will be mostly lost on me. But the rest of the phone however…just perfect! These next few 8 days can’t pass quickly enough.

    • I was not laughing at you. πŸ™‚ In fact, I haven’t used a selfie camera too πŸ˜› We are in a same boat hehe πŸ˜›
I want to see some Nokia 7 leaks. I hope they launch it on 16th πŸ™‚ Maybe they will launch it along with Nokia 9 a IFA πŸ™‚

      • Stinger

It would be perfect if they announced three new phones: Nokia 2, Nokia 7, and Nokia 8.

        • But Nokia 9 needs a friend to come with it on the stage too. Right? Nokia 9 will need a companion too. πŸ™‚ πŸ˜›

          • Stinger

Ha Ha. I would LOVE to see the Nokia 9 next week!

          • A companion for a flagship? No please.

I don’t wanna read “Powerful Nokia 9 and Nokia 7 Launched at IFA 17”. I wanna read “Nokia 9 launched at IFA 17: Set to beat all flagships”

There are limited words for the title and the more products you push into a single launch reduces the available space for each one. Then the content also mixes up, becoming more lengthy and the focus is divided across the different products.

Nokia 9 should come alone and take over the news tickr and the eyeballs. If it can’t, don’t launch it.

          • Yes! You are right but looking at Nokia’s history we may get to see more than 1 device being launched at the event. πŸ™‚
OR May be there is no Nokia 9 as of now and Nokia 8 will be the only flagship for this year. πŸ™‚

          • Tarun Suresh

I dont think so…. coz i do remember arto stating at ndtv channel that there will be an affordable as well as no compromise flagship…

            http://gadgets.ndtv.com/videos/nokia-the-legend-remastered-460416

            seek to 10:35

          • Nokia 8 is affordable Flagship, like Lumia 830 was, sort of. Nokia 9 should be real top notch flagship.

          • Tarun Suresh

            I know…. I was replying to @disqus_Fwhc13VCQT:disqus’s last sentence

“OR May be there is no Nokia 9 as of now and Nokia 8 will be the only flagship for this year. :)”

          • Oh yeah! I forgot this hehe. Yes I saw this interview πŸ™‚

    • Rocky

But, there’s Google services like playstore, etc. So probably it’s global device but used by a Chinese person, this leak came from china, right? πŸ˜‰

  • surethom

I wonder what the 16:9 photo size will be 4:3 is a bad format to many black bars. Wish more would use a wide sensor like the Samsung S6 has.

If the photo quality is good it looks like this will replace my Samsung S6. Hope there is a 6gb ram version though.

    • Michael

Just curious, do you really need a 6GB version? I know in the future, we will, but now. I have a Huawei P9 with 4GB RAM. It’s running EMUI and another launcher. 2 emails running in the background, a bunch of other stuff. Right now, with the phone not having been re-booted in probably 2 weeks, I’m using 33% of my RAM. I’ve browsed extensively using 2 different browsers, taken photos, watched videos, played games.

Just interested to know what you do with your phone that makes the difference. Is it running at the highest display level with a graphics intensive game? Have you ever run out of the 3GB RAM your S6 has?

There are already comparisons that this Nokia will be “weak” on memory, so trying to figure out if this is a real weakness or more fake news.

      • He uses a Samsung which will need more RAM for its custom UI hehe πŸ˜› (Just Joking) But i agree 4GB is more than enough. πŸ™‚

        • Michael

You may be on to something @LoveNokia and I’m certainly curious about that aspect. Touch Wiz has been regarded as a resource hog in the past, but seems to have a better reputation recently or is continually increasing RAM masking the resource issue and Samsung fan sites are giving it a pass while spinning a 6GB RAM phone as a good thing (rather than a necessity)?

      • surethom

Yes the S6 after a year & hundred of apps the phone stutters bad. But I guess with Nokia being mainly stock 4gb should be enough.

  • Michael

Seems like a great solid phone. Can’t wait to see what it feels like in the hand.

  • I wonder if the front lens is also Zeiss Optics.

    • I don’t think so. Because as far as I know Nokia never used ZEISS lens for front camera on any of their phones that had ZEISS lens at back πŸ™‚

      • Nokia never used Android either (lets ignore X series)

Hope, they’re not planning to drop LED notification light(I do find it useful)

        • Stinger

LED notification light should be mandatory on all phones…lol. An always on screen like the Nokia N9’s would be very useful as well. Only 7 more days until we find out.

          • Agree,
But I feel like they’re gonna skip it on N8 too like other models.

          • Stinger

ha ha ha…when I read “N8” I got so confused!!! But seriously, it would be a nice feature to have.

          • Indeed, choice to keep it on or off is better than removing it all together.. also I guess it’s not all that expensive to add one.
