HMD brings back the Nokia 2660 Flip to India, despite phasing out the brand
|HMD Global recently made a big move by renouncing the Nokia brand and rebranding previously announced devices under its own name. However, one device is making an unexpected return under the familiar Nokia badge – the Nokia 2660 Flip, relaunched in the Indian market (first launched on July 2022).
The reason behind this step isn’t entirely clear, but it’s possible that HMD’s own brand still lacks the recognition and trust that Nokia continues to carry, especially in markets like India. Until the license officially expires, likely sometime next year, HMD might still be using the Nokia name strategically where it makes sense.
The Nokia 2660 Flip is now priced at ₹4,699 (around €52) and offers quite a lot for a basic phone:
- 4G connectivity
- Camera
- Torchlight
- FM radio
- Support for Unified Payment Interface (UPI) – a key mobile payment feature in India
It’s a feature phone designed for simplicity, accessibility, and durability; now possibly enjoying its last round under the Nokia name. Would you still buy a Nokia in 2025, even if it’s made by HMD?
