StreamView left Nokia brand for Thomson
|Nokia intends to exit the classic consumer market by removing its logo from licensed products. The first sign of this shift was Nokia redesigning its logo, followed by changes in HMD’s strategy.
Recently, the Austrian company Streamview transitioned from manufacturing and selling Nokia-branded smart TVs to French Thomson-branded ones. The only remaining sign of the Nokia brand in the TV market is the ongoing support that Streamview will provide for some time.
Streamview has yet to announce new smart TVs, but it seems to me that the Nokia brand in the consumer market is now a part of history. We may still see it on feature phones for a few more years until the last stocked Nokia-branded feature phones are sold and replaced by HMD.
I must say that Nokia TVs made by StreamView are quite good, and their Nokia stream box also, so the new Thomson products will probably be great too.
Thanks, Ficus87, for the tip!
