Nokia Announces the FastMile 5G Gateway 12

Nokia announced its next generation of 5G fixed wireless access gateways or beacons. The new Nokia FastMile 5G Gateway 12 is 3GPP compliant and combines 4G and 5G radio to connect homes and businesses.

This beacon is a plug-and-play device, which makes it a simple and effective solution to deliver high-speed broadband using 5G fixed wireless access (FWA). It is designed simply, and made of recycled materials. It can be controlled over a Nokia WiFi app which is nice.

The main features of the FastMile 5G Gateway 12 include:

• Easy Installation: An LED indicator helps you find the best signal strength for optimal performance.
• Omnidirectional Antenna: An 8 dBi antenna ensures strong and consistent connectivity.
• Wi-Fi 7: Tri-band 4+4 connectivity for fast and robust Wi-Fi.
• Self-Optimizing Mesh Wi-Fi: Guarantees great coverage throughout the home.
• Carrier Aggregation: Supports up to 300 MHz bandwidth for faster speeds.
• Advanced Management: TR-369/USP for easy device management.
• 8Rx Antennas: Enhances reception with eight receiving antennas.
• User-Friendly Interface: A unified browser interface for simple management.

There are some optional hardware enhancements too:

• RJ-11 Port: For VoIP or VoLTE services.

Now, as usual, Nokia isn’t leaving a lot of info about the pricing or availability. This beacon will most likely be offered to carriers and sold to end users over a subscription.
