Nokia 5.1 Plus gets Pro Camera mode with Android 9 Pie release

HMD Global today started the official rollout of Android 9 Pie for the Nokia 5.1 Plus. Nokia 5.1 Plus is a notched low midrange phone from HMD, featuring MediaTek’s P60 and offering overall a solid user experience for its price, as we explained in our review of the device posted some days ago.

Alongside Android Pie, Nokia 5.1 Plus is the second device to get the Nokia Pro Camera mode without featuring ZEISS optics. HMD’s CPO Juho Sarvikas stated on Twitter that because of high demand, HMD decided to make the Pro Mode available for Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus.

While Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus users have something to be happy about, users of Nokia 8 Sirocco, HMD’s flagship that retailed for €750 on launch, are still waiting for any news regarding Android 9 Pie release. The only thing we know is that Nokia 8 Sirocco is next in the line to receive Android 9 Pie, as HMD’s CPO said.
