Fresh off the debut of its futuristic Robot Phone in China, Honor is gearing up for the highly anticipated launch of its flagship Magic 9 series on September 28. However, behind closed doors, the Chinese tech giant is developing a diverse and highly experimental portfolio of smartphones that push the boundaries of current mobile hardware.

According to insights from the prolific Weibo leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS), Honor’s upcoming roadmap features everything from dual-screen camera phones to record-breaking battery capacities.

A Secondary Screen for the Honor 700 Series

DCS reports that Honor is currently prototyping a slim, photography-centric smartphone featuring a 1.7-inch native rear display. While this dual-screen aesthetic will not be adopted by the mainline flagship series, industry watchers speculate it is destined for the upcoming Honor 700 lineup. Based on the company’s historical release cycles, the Honor 700 series is expected to break cover in China between November and December of this year.

The 12,000mAh Powerhouse

In a move that could completely redefine smartphone endurance, Honor has reportedly entered trial production for an ultra-large battery. Rated at 11,790mAh (43.86Wh) with a typical capacity of 12,000mAh, this massive power cell highlights the brand’s aggressive push into high-capacity silicon-carbon technology.

While the tipster did not explicitly name the device housing this battery, supply chain rumors point toward the upcoming Honor Power 3.
