Samsung is already testing One UI 9.5 on the budget Galaxy A17 5G

One UI 9.5

Samsung has not finished rolling out One UI 9.0, but an internal firmware build suggests it is preparing One UI 9.5 for the Galaxy A17 5G. The build is evidence of testing, not a public update: owners cannot install it, and Samsung has not announced a release date.

Testing reaches a lower-priced Galaxy phone

The build spotted on Samsung’s servers is associated with the Galaxy A17 5G, a more affordable model than the phones on which One UI 9.5 testing was first reported. Development had previously been spotted for the Galaxy S26 series, followed by the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8 and Galaxy A57.

The timing is notable because the Galaxy A17 5G has not yet received its stable One UI 9.0 update. Internal testing of a later version does not mean Samsung will skip One UI 9.0, however, or that One UI 9.5 is close to reaching A17 users. Manufacturers can work on future software for several devices while an earlier update is still being distributed.

What might One UI 9.5 bring?

One UI 9.5 is expected to remain based on Android 17, like One UI 9.0. Early leaks have pointed to app locking, dark app icons for Dark Mode, smoother animations, a revised fingerprint animation, adjustments to the Camera interface and App Mirroring.

Those additions are not a confirmed feature list for the Galaxy A17 5G. Features seen in early builds may change before release, and some may be limited to devices with suitable hardware. For now, the newly spotted firmware says more about the breadth of Samsung’s testing than about what A17 owners will eventually receive.
