Google Pixel 11 to Feature Cutting-edge 2nm Tensor G6 Chip by TSMC

Google is reportedly preparing a major leap forward in smartphone performance with its Pixel 11 series, set for release in 2026. According to a new report, the upcoming Tensor G6 chipset could be manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 2nm process. If confirmed, this would represent a significant shift in Google’s silicon strategy, potentially giving it a notable performance advantage over competitors such as Apple and Qualcomm.

Previously, Google was expected to switch from Samsung Foundry to TSMC for the upcoming Tensor G5 chipset, reportedly using a 3nm process for this year’s Pixel 10 series. However, according to the latest information from Taiwan’s Commercial Times, Google may adopt an even more advanced manufacturing process for its next-generation Tensor G6 chipset, known internally as “Malibu.” Rather than using TSMC’s 3nm N3P process, the company is reportedly planning to utilize the cutting-edge 2nm N2 node in 2026.

If true, adopting the 2nm node would result in substantial gains in efficiency and performance. Compared to its predecessor, the Tensor G6 could offer up to 15% faster CPU performance and as much as 30% improved power efficiency, representing a major improvement over the current Tensor G4 chipset based on a 4nm process in the Pixel 9 Pro.

The rumored CPU configuration of the Tensor G6 includes a single ARM Cortex-X930 prime core, six Cortex-A730 performance cores, and one Cortex-A530 efficiency core. Additionally, it is expected to feature a triple-core Imagination CXTP GPU clocked at 1.1GHz. Combined with support for LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, the chipset could significantly enhance AI capabilities and gaming performance.

Moreover, Google’s strategic partnership with TSMC is said to extend well beyond the Pixel 11, potentially covering future Pixel generations up to the Pixel 14 series. With Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 expected to remain on a 3nm node in 2025, Google’s rumored leap to 2nm could provide the Pixel 11 series with a crucial advantage in the highly competitive Android flagship market.
